            A.M. Abbott of Cedar Creek was a business visitor in Waldron first of the week.

            J.W. Robson of Blansett paid us a pleasant call while in Waldron latter part of last week.

            Miss Carrie Haines of Mansfield is visiting her sister, Mrs. A.E. Wiley, in Waldron this week.

            Bro. Burrow, who was assigned to the M.E. Church, South, at Magazine, spent a few days in Waldron this week.

            Tom Johnson and Esq. Beach of James township were business callers at the Advance Reporter office last Thursday.

            W.J. Jones of Tomlinson township passed through Waldron Tuesday en route home from a trip to Oklahoma.

            The Holiness meeting at Waldron to be conducted by Miss Dora Rice and Agnes White will begin Dec. 10 instead of the date previously announced.

            R.P. Denton of Brawley township was trading in Waldron last Thursday. Dr. Duval Bevill returned latter part of last week from a trip to Kansas City.

            W.A. Adams of Beauchamp was transacting business in Waldron last Saturday.

            C.I. Roseberry of Parks had his name added to our list of readers last Tuesday. Mr. Roseberry and wife inspected the Advance Reporter machinery.

            J.B. Beene, one of Jones township’s good citizens, paid us a pleasant call while transacting business in Waldron Monday and purchased a supply of overseer blanks.

            Isaac Simms of Tate township was mingling with Waldron friends Tuesday.

            350 bushels of corn for sale at 65 cents per bushel on O.L. Miles farm three miles west of Boles on Waldron and Mena road. For particulars call on R.M. Hall, Boles, Ark.

            Ed Brown of Winfield left at this office last week a fine specimen of corn which was grown by J.F. Washburn of his neighborhood, which he said was produced on a farm that was not by any means considered the richest soil in the county. The ear measures nearly eleven inches in length, has a small cob and large white grain. It is considered superior to the product of Kansas corn fields.

            Notice to Teachers. There will be a public examination held at Waldron, Dec. 17 – 18, for the purpose of testing the professional qualifications of those desiring to teach in the public schools of Scott county. Hereafter special examinations will be given only in extraordinary cases and in strict compliance with law. B.A. Thompson, County Examiner.

            W.H. Williams returned last week from an extended stay in Texas.

            W.R. Voight of Colorado Springs, Colo., arrived in Waldron this week and cast his lot among the good people of Scott county.

            ----- Laird of Oklahoma and Miss Celia Panter of Waldron were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Castleberry last Thursday.

            Mrs. G.P. Young was called to St. Joseph, Mo., Monday to attend the sick bedside of her son, Hiram Young. We hope to announce his early recovery.

            Oren Holiday and Miss Eloise Self of Greenridge were married at the home of the bride’s parents last Thursday. The Advance Reporter extends congratulations to the happy couple.

            Dr. L.L. Sullivan was appearing unusually jovial on the streets early Monday morning, and announced to the Advance Reporter the arrival of young man No. 3 at his home Sunday night.

            The time is near at hand when old Santa Claus will begin to gather up the nice gifts and presents for the little folk, and older ones as well. In order to get picking choice you will have to come early, to John O. Mitchell’s Drug store where you will find most anything you want in the Christmas line.

            John P. Boatright and E.S. Goble were transacting business in Waldron Monday.

            The Ingham Lumber Co. at Bates is conducting a Great Prosperity Sale, commencing Dec. 1, and continuing for twenty days. Read their two page announcement in this week’s paper.

            J.W. Riley and family and other families of Oklahoma arrived in Waldron this week and will purchase farm property and make their home in Scott county. We are glad to see them locate among us, and we believe they have come to one of the best places on earth.

            Preaching at M.E. Church. On next Sunday I will fill my regular appointment morning and evening. My subject at the morning service will be, “How God furnishes us with working tools.” All are cordially invited to attend these services. On account of sickness I was unable to fill my last appointment. N.W. Womack.
