Bird WALLS Criminal Case File - 1894: I have a copy of a Scott County criminal case file that I thought was my relative, but it's not (don't worry, though, I have plenty of other criminal case files on my real family!) In any case, instead of throwing it away, I'd like to mail it to anyone who is studying this family. I will do this for the cost of postage which would be $0.77. (you can send a check or stamps) Please e-mail me and let me know if you're interested. I'll send it to the first person who responds.

I am looking for the grave of my GGrandfather, Richard Paschal DICKENS. He was a Scott Co. resident, a Mason, I.O.O.F. member and civil war veteran. I've not found his name in any of the cemetery books for Scott or Polk Counties. My dad (the late Claude DICKENS of Waldron) always said he was buried at the "Old Dallas" cemetery at Mena, but I cannot find it. He was born about 1839 and died about 1912. I would very much appreciate any clues or information anyone might have.

Jennings D. CROWELL owned land in Scott county and was listed in the 1880 census. His daughter, Bettie married Albert E. QUANTZ and they also had land in Scott county. Jennings was listed as widowed in the 1880 census but had children Lutitia, Harriet and Wily D. living at home. His daughter Bettie was 24 in 1880 and had 3 children (eventually to become 11 or 12 children) Herman T. J., Bettie E.F. and Molly. Children born later included Nettie (married Jay WARFORD) and Emma (married Rollie BABCOCK), Fannie, Albert, Gus, Annie, Steve, and Henry. Does anyone have any information about Jennings wife, Bettie's mother (in the year 1856), or any of the other children. Also, Jennings appears to have come from NC - does anyone have any idea when and which county? Albert E. QUANTZ also was from NC but someone may have information on him as well.

I am looking for information on several DEMENT families that were known to be in Scott County in the years 1883 to 1899. The family name of DEMENT, brothers John, Willis, Sanford, George W., William, Jr. I have copy of marriage records for these brothers. Their father William DEMENT, was supposedly married to Nancy Jane McMICKIN of Black Fork, near Waldron in Scott Co., Ark. on Feb. 22, 1853. Our information, from my mother, said her grandmother was named Sara CHILCOTE (CHILCOAT). One publication that I have, noted that Willis Eugene DEMENT died from pneumonia on Dec. 24, 1900 and was buried in Arkansas. The familles moved to Oklahoma, Indian Territory, soon after and settled in the Whitefield area. They did not know if William Sr. moved or not. If anyone knows the name of the cemetery where Willis is buried, I would like the name of it. Also of any DEMENTS buried in that area. They lived mostly in the Black Fork community near Waldron. I also have some information that a cousin, Bo ROOP, sent me noting that his Grandfather, William Henry ROOP, married to Margaret Rebecca GRAGG, worked on the construction of the road leading to the Queen Wilhelmina Inn atop Rich Mountain. Margaret was a sister to Frances Adeline (GRAGG) CHILDRES, who married John DEMENT on Sept. 2, 1888. I have a copy of Echoes, Spring, 1996 issue, in which the John DEMENT family was profiled, it was submitted by Wanda Mae Robinson DILBECK. It also showed that William Sr. was married to McMICKIN. If anyone has any information that would show that John was married to Sara CHILCOTE I would appreciate help solving this mystery. It was also said that Sara was part Indian.

I am searching for an old cemetery that is located in Scott Co. The only information that I have is from records that a deceased uncle kept. The cemetery was apparently established in 1881. It was located in School District #11. The only other description that I have is that it was near a church and school house in the Dalton, Shackleford, Johnson, Canatsa neighborhood. The first 3 graves were Noah JOHNSON, Ella JOHNSON, and Betty SHACKLEFORD. I am also looking for the cemetery where Benjamin F. JOHNSON, his wives and any other family members might be buried.
