Seeking information on my LEWIS line of Washington Co., AR. Alvis Edwin LEWIS, 1853 - 1945, was born in Scott County. He was a son of Alvis Gatson LEWIS, 1827 - 1916, and Rebecca Catharine BLACK, 1832 - 1885. Alvis Gatson's parents were Samuel LEWIS, 1801 - 1863, and Bricey HOLT, 1804 - 1873. All of this LEWIS family is found on the census in Washington County, AR from 1850 and perhaps earlier. However, I haven't been able to locate Alvis Edwin LEWIS on the 1860 census anywhere. Can anyone help? Has anyone found any record of them in Scott County?

I am searching for information on J.W. TAYLOR, born in Illinois about 1792. He and his wife, Nancy (ANGLIN) TAYLOR, born about 1796 in Tennessee, were in the household of their son, Hugh J. TAYLOR, born about 1827 in Illinois, on the 1850 census of Hickman Township, Scott County, AR. J.W. TAYLOR was described on the 1850 census as a "local preacher." Family tradition has it that he was a "hard-shelled Baptist preacher." His son and family moved on to Texas in the mid-1850s, but either J.W. did not go with them, died before they left, or died on the way to Texas. Would like to know if J.W. TAYLOR died in Scott County, when he died, and where he is buried. Any information appreciated.
