My GG Grandfather was Henry H. GIRTCH born in Germany in 1812 and listed with his family on the Scott County census
in 1870 and 1880. I would like to know when he came to Arkansas and from where, who all his children were and if Sophia
Carolina was his wife's whole name or if it was her given name with out her surname. I would love to find when he came
to the US and who his parents were.

Looking for info on children of James & Elizabeth (LANE) Bell who resided in Cooper co. MO in 1850. Archibald
BELL, our line, was born about 1837 in Missouri, one of 13 children born to James and Elizabeth (LANE) BELL. On
the 1850 census, this family resided in Cooper County, Missouri. From tax records, we know that Arch’s
grandfather, Zephaniah, was in Cooper County as early as 1820 and still lived there in 1850. (age 81).
1850 Cooper Co. Missouri, Booneville Twp.
James BELL age 47 listed as born in VA (1860 census says SC)
Elizabeth age 41 born North Carolina
William age 24
Jane age 22
Mary Ann age 18
Davinda G. age 16
Andrew Jackson age 15
Archibald C. age 13
Robert S. age 12
Zephaniah age 10
Irban H. age 8
Malinda E. age 7
Samuel S age 6
James C. age 5
Hector M. age 2, all the children born in Missouri
The ages for these children seem to be inaccurate when compared to later census records. Before 1860 James and some
of his children had moved to Arkansas. Elizabeth evidently died about 1859. On the 1860 census for Scott County,
Arkansas, James is married to “Margaret” age 36. The household includes Mary Ann BELL now listed as age 29; James C.
BELL, listed as age 13; Hector M. BELL, listed as age 9; and five CHOAT children ages 12 to 3 years.
Archibald BELL married Sarah ELKINS about 1857. Their 1st child, Francis Levina, was born in Oct. 1858 Scott Co.
AR. Sarah ELKINS, born Feb. 1836 SC, was the daughter of Wm. Thorit and Lavisa SHARP ELKINS. I have not found Arch
& Sarah on the 1860 census but by 1870 the widow Sarah G., age 32, and her 4 BELL children resides with Sarah's mother,
Levicia ELKINS, in Scott Co. AR. Archibald was killed in 1864.
I believe that the Andrew J., Irban H., and Zephania BELL found in 1880 census for Palo Pinto, TX are the children of
James & Elizabeth BELL. Irban BELL may have died in El Paso, TX. Where did the other children go? Who did they marry?
What happened to James and 2nd wife Margaret?

I have been and continue to research the NANCE family in Scott County. Jesse Pinctney NANCE
left Union/Anson Co., NC for Georgia after the Civil War, leaving his 2 children by his first
wife, Nancy SPEARS, who had died, with his father John A. NANCE, son of Wyatt NANCE, son of
Robert NANCE, my Revolutionary War Patriot. Jesse married a Mary Caroline McCOY before 1868,
in Georgia, I think and they then went to Scott County where they both died. Jesse had one
son by Mary Caroline, John Benjamin NANCE, born March 3, 1868, in Scott Co.

I have been searching for B.J. STEWART (Bartheney Jane) & J.B. (Bass) STEWART. They lived
in Tomlinson Township in Scott Co., AR. She is listed on the 1880 census in Scott Co. along
with her children and it is noted that she is “widowed” although Bass STEWART passed away
in 1913 in Upshur Co., TX. I also noted that B.J. STEWART is listed on the 1880 Agricultural
Census in Tomlinson Township. B.J. STEWART supposedly passed away in 1886. I do not know
where she is buried. Bartheney Jane STEWART was my great, great grandmother. Her daughter,
Willie Alice, married William Wesley PAYTON who came to Scott Co., AR from Illinois & was
in the lumber business. He moved on to Texas about 1900 and eventually settled in Bienville
Parish, Louisiana which is the part of Louisiana where I grew up & where most of my family
still resides. My Grandmother, Ida Drusilla PAYTON, was born in Fort Smith. The children of
B.J. & Bass STEWART were: James E., Willie Alice, Mary Hattie, Virginia Lee, Maude, Robert,
Lou C., Dora, M. Jenna, & John Madison. Bass STEWART and Bartheney Jane DINWIDDIE got married
in Carroll Co., Tennessee and migrated to Arkansas after the Civil War. He had been a
Confederate soldier & family lore has it that he may have ridden with Quantrill’s Raiders
after the war. Family lore also has it that B.J. was buried in the Oklahoma Territory although
this would seem to me to be rather unlikely as she lived with her children in Scott Co. & they
apparently farmed until shortly before her death. As I noted earlier she was listed as
“widowed” & “head of household” on the 1880 US Census in Tomlinson Township. My mother was
eagerly seeking more information about “Grandma STEWART” & the DINWIDDIES of TN before she
died in 1999. Can anyone help with more information about this family or the burial site of
Bartheney Jane STEWART?

I am looking for any information on an Anna PINION who is listed in the 1860 Sebastian Co., Mountain Township
census records. (This area was taken from Scott Co. in 1851 and returned to Scott Co. in 1861.) Anna is listed among
the JONES family households and I am wondering if she was related to them. She supposedly was born in SC and was 75
in 1860. Am wondering if she was David J. JONES' mother. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

My father and his siblings were all born in Scott County AR. The first was born in 1901 – 02. My
dad's name is Emmet Elmo HOGUE, Dob June 30, 1906. His parents (my grandparents) are Benjamin Franklin
HOGUE, dob about 1875, (wife) Eliza Elizabeth RICHMOND, dob about 1878 - 82. I am seeking information
about my grandparents places of birth and hopefully also their parents places of birth. Also if possible
where or what towns they lived in at any time.

I am searching for any information on the David J. ALLEN family. David ALLEN married Jane Netta
(aka Jane or Jennie) JONES in 1869 in MS, moved to TX and to AR so that they appear in the 1880
Scott County census. Their names are as follows:
David ALLEN, b. 1846, NC
Jane ALLEN, b. 1847, MS
Benjamine ALLEN, age 11, b. 1869, MS
Franklin ALLEN, age 8, b. 1872, MS
Henry R. ALLEN, age 7, b. 1873, MS
Mary L. ALLEN, age 5, b. 1875, MS
Emily J. ALLEN, age 3, b. 1878, TX
Nancy ALLEN, age 2, b. 1879, TX
It is believed they remained in Scott County for about 20 years before moving into Indian Territory
in Oklahoma where they appear in Coal County OK in 1906. Henry R. ALLEN appears in 1900 census of the
Choctaw Nation, Township 3, married to Alice O. HARRIS who was born 1881 in Texas. Franklin ALLEN married
Pearl MORGAN, who was born 1880 and later to Lona P. (lastname unknown) who was born in 1881 in Arkansas.
Neither Benjamin ALLEN, Mary L. ALLEN, Emily J. ALLEN or Nancy ALLEN may have married in Arkansas and their
descendents may remain in or near Scott County.
