 Hannah Grinder, who married Perry Holt, 
and Stella Grinder, who married Dorman Burns.
 The Grinder's owned the ferry that crossed the Buffalo River, and they
had the first telephone lines in St. Joe ( the exchange was operated 
by Nomie Grinder and possibly Hannah).  They also owned a sawmill.

Looking up the Buffalo River at Grinder's Ferry which operated 
down from where the U.S. Highway 65 bridge now spans the river. 
The ferry was first operated by Samuel Grinder in 1853.  He was succeed 
by George W. Grinder in 1880.  The row of men on the left standing on 
the "boom" are George Grinder, Simpson Depriest, Jim Grinder, behind pole -
Willie McDaniel, three standing close together - unidentified.  Sitting left to right:

The landing of the ferry can be seen left center and the guiding cable can also 
be seen. The ferry is barely discernable at the low point of the cable.

Bob (Robert Andrew Grinder) and Bessie Grinder with 
unknown child.  The child could have been first born Pearlie 
who was born in 1909 and on the 1910 census but died in infancy.
