Dr. Moses Bell Expires at His Home in Fort Smith

Fort Smith, April 17.
Dr. Moses Bell, aged 85, one of the oldest retired physicians in western Arkansas, died last night at his home, 524 Carnall Avenue, after a short illness.
Dr. Bell retired from active practice several years ago.
Dr. Bell was born in Tennessee, but removed to Arkansas when he was a young man, spending the greater part of his life in this state. He is survived by his wife and several children."

Dr. Moses Bell served in the Civil War as an Commissioned Officer (Capt.) in Company H, Arkansas 51st Infantry Regiment.

Dr Bell's first wife was Sarah Jane Moffett who died in 1879. His second wife, Minerva Jane Elizabeth Foreman 1866-1915, was found to be part Cherokee by a Judge Vann in 1871. The following year, the family moved to the 200 acre farm near Moffett, OK in Sequoyah County. Sarah died 7 years later and is buried in a 2 acre cemetery on the old farmstead.
