Dr. Levi Dawson Crawford

Dr. Levi Dawson Crawford, Jenny Lind, graduated from Barnes Medical College, St. Louis, Missouri on March 20, 1894, and recorded his diploma in Sebastian County, Jun 2, 1904. He became a member of the Sebastian County Medical Society in 1905 and was listed in the 1907 Fort Smith City Directory with an office at 422 North Tenth Street, Fort Smith.

Dr. Levi Dawson Crawford was born about 1858 in Georgia. In 1860 he is found in Georgia Militia District 913 in Fannin, Georgia with one older brother James, age 4, and their parents George William 29 years old and born in Tennessee/NC and Sarah Ann Vestell Crawford age 27 years old and born in Georgia. George and Sarah were married October 15, 1854 in Fannin Georgia.

The parental grandparents were Samuel Hunter Sr and Celia Jones Crawford. Samuel was born Oct 25, 1805 in Rutherford, North Carolina and died Aug 18, 1882 in Fannin County, Georgia. He is buried in the Concord Baptist Church cemetery in Fannin County. His wife Celia Jones Crawford was born 1810 and died Nov 16, 1897, buried by her husband.

The maternal grandparents were John David Vestal, born 1802 in North Carolina, he was killed near the end of the civil war, and Nancy Standly, born in 1807 in South Carolina.

On November 25, 1880, Newton County, Arkansas, Dr Crawford weds Angie Davis, age 15. In 1900 Dr Crawford and family can be found in Township 12, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, children being Maud and Claude.

In 1910 Dr. Crawford is found in LeFlore, Oklahoma with wife Angie and daughter Maud.

In 1920 Levi Dawson was in Marked Tree, Poinsett, Arkansas, practicing medicine. His wife was Rosa Lee.

Dr. Levi Dawson Crawford died April 26, 1921 in Drakesboro, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky and is buried there in Fairmount Cemetery.
