Dr. Iverton Vance Davis
1839-1916


Dr. Iverton Vance Davis was born Mar 23, 1839 in Kentucky to Thomas Nicholas and Susan Cottingham Davis. He was child 8 out of 12 children. In 1860 when he was 21, he and his parents and siblings are in Center, Vernon, Missouri and I.V. Davis is a student of medicine. In 1861 he was taken as a confederate prisoner of war being a private in Co., G, 4th Cav. when his company surrendered at New Orleans.

On March 1, 1875 Dr. I. V. Davis, age 36, physician, born in Ky is in Butler, Clifford Kansas with brother W. T. age 34, b. Kentucky a farmer, H A Davis, 22, born in Illinois and W I Davis, 5/12, born in Kentucky. In 1880 Iverton is still in Butler Clifford Kansas with wife Sarah Malinda (Smith) age 23 b. Ill., Lena M. age 2 and Minnie age 1 both born in Kansas. Sarah Malinda's maiden name is given on one of her children's social security records Next door is brother William T Davis age 29 and his family. Children of Ireton Vance and Sarah Davis were Lena May, Minnie Chancey, Lucretia, Allen Burt.

January 23, 1899 wife Sarah Malinda died and is buried in Speegle Cemetery in Sebastian County, Arkansas In 1907 age 68 Dr. Davis was in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Arkansas appointed to be the postmaster there. In 1910 Dr. Davis and family are living in Big Creek township, Sebastian Co. Ar. Where Lavaca is located.

June 25, 1916 Dr. Davis died and is buried in the Speegle Cemetery in Sebastian County.
