Dr. Elisha Baxter Jones

Dr. Elisha B. Jones of Hartford, Arkansas, died December 4, 1957 in his home in Hartford, Arkansas, at the age of 97 years. The doctor said he was born in Huntsville, Arkansas, but the 1900 United States Census shows he was born in Kansas.

Dr. Jones attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1901. After graduation, the young doctor came to Hartford, Arkansas in 1902 and there he practiced medicine until his retirement in 1956. At the time of his retirement, Dr. Jones was the oldest practicing physician in the State of Arkansas.

So well thought of by the people of the town that in May of 1957, the town of Hartford held an observance day for Doctor Jones. Dr. Jones was a member of the Jones Memorial Methodist Church(which was named in his honor); and he was a member of the masonic lodge. Dr. Jones was married to Emma Roby(could be Riley, as the writting is bad. (Van Buren Argus. 3 Jun 1902) At his death, Dr. Jones was survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Dr. Jones was married in 1889 to Martha H. On June 3, 1902 Dr. Jones married Emma Roby.
He was the son of Enoch and Hannah Jones.
