Dr. Ezra Rockwood

Dr. Ezra M. Rockwoodwas born August 1855/6 in Illinois, to John and Rachael Shinn Rockwood who married Aug 19, 1852 in Brown, Illinois. In 1860 Ezra is living with his parents in Versallies, Illinois. His father John is a wagon maker. John A Rockwood served in the civil war in Co E 16th Ill. Inf. He died in Springfield, Mo in 1885.

In 1875 Ezra can be found with his parents in Labette, Kansas. And in 1880 he is 24, still in Labette, Kansas listed as a physician. His parents and siblings are there also.

Dr. Rockwood married on March 1, 1881 in Labette, Kansas to Clementine Blackerly. His first wife Clementine, mother of his two children, was born Sep 12, 1861 in Kentucky and died Mar 27, 1892 in Cherokee, Kansas. Her parents were Richcard "Dick" Gaines Blackerby and Susan Ann House. Dr Rockwood's His second wife Gertrude was born in Arkansas In 1900 he is living in Fort Smith, Arkansas with wife Gertrude G Rockwood and his 2 children by his first wife.

Dr. Rockwood is found in the Fort Smith directory of 1911 listed as a physician at 10061 1/2 Garrison Av, residence 1624 South T. His son Richard is also listed at 1006 1/2 Garrison but is a clerk for D. L. Kimmons & Co.

Ezra's will was written in Fort Smith Arkansas on Nov 21, 1913. He left everything to wife Gertrude G. Rockwood, He left $1 each to his only son Richard G. and only daughter Mrs. Nellie B. Hick. One of the witnesses to the will was Dr S. J. Osment MD from Ft Smith.

Dr. Ezra Rockwood died March 5, 1916 at Aurora, Lawence County,MIssouri and is buried in Frt Smith Arkansas in Forest Park Cemetery.
