Old Company House
at the No. 6 Coal Mine in Huntington

It used to have a breezeway or dog trot through the center. My dad told me that they would pass out pay checks or vouchers from the doors. When I was a kid the coal mines had already closed but they used to have rodeo in the field just to the left of the building in the early 1960s. A concession stand was set up in the building and we would go up to them just as my father had done years ago for his pay. I can still remember sitting on the top rail of the wood fence and watching the horses and roping.
