Henry Clay Bridges

Henry Clay Bridges was born in 1842 in Weakley Co., Tenn to William Henry & Sarah B. Rust Bridges. In 1869 he married Nancy P. F. Rust.

Henry served with the Confederate Army.

He resided in Greenwood/Mt Harmony. He died in 1932 in Ft. Smith He first enlisted in the 52nd Confederate Army in Greenwood. The 52nd was absorbed by the 35th Infantry Division. More accurately: Henry Clay Bridges first served in Company E, 51st Arkansas Militia Regiment, CSA. His name appears as present during Roll Call in Greenwood, and on a pay roll dated 29 May 1862 to cover the period 4-14 Mar 1862

He went on to serve in the 35th Infantry Regiment, CSA-AKA-McChords Regiment, 22nd Ark. Infantry. Battles they fought: Prairie Grove-Artillery-Helena-Little Rock-Camden. Commanders - Frank A. Rector - James P. King - Henry J. McChord.

BRIDGES, HENRY C.-- Enl- June 27, 1862 at Greenwood, Arkansas. AWOL Jan 10, 1863. Ht. 5'10", eyes blue, hair lt, complx lt, farmer age 20, born in Carroll Co. Ark, residence: Sebastian Co., AR. (We know he was Not born in Carroll County).
--------------- Arkansas Death Certificate #1173 says Henry Bridges was born 21 Dec 1839 in Mississippi. his parents were never in Mississippi. Information provided on his Death Certificat e was by a niece named Mrs. R. M. McNair of Greenwood, AR. from Bobby Woodrome

Henry passed away September 4, 1932 in Fort Smith Sebastian Co., Arkansas. His burial was in Mount Harmony Cemetery in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar.
