Charles Carroll Vosburg
1832-1918
Charles Carroll Vosburg was born January 8,, 1832 in Illinois City Illinois to George & Laura Cripper Vosburg. He married his first wife, Mary T. Meriwether, July 7, 1861. She passed away October 15, 1871. January 28, 1873 he married Mary Corrina Lilly Cherry. A couple of sources on-line mention that Charles was adopted. I have found no records on that or if he had another surname.

Charles served with Co. A 40th Infantry from Mississippi. Another record says he served in 1861 with the Twenty-Second Infantry. He was taken prisoner whiile serving as a Pvt in Co. H 30th Inf.Nov 4, 1863 at Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was released November 18,, 1963 in a prisoner excchange at Vicksburg.

Charles passed away January 16, 1918 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. His burial was in Tate Cemetery near Lavaca.
