William L. ELWOOD listed as a Confederate Veteran was a Union soldier; Co. H 2nd Ark Cav US; enlisted 17 Nov 1863 Fort Smith; I have his pension information. William died Stuart, Hughes Co., OK; burial: Section 1 Site 396 Fort Smith National Cemetery. I am not certain that William did not at one time serve with CSA; however, his pension was received for Union service and burial record clearly states "Pvt US Army".
