Testify for claim: Calvin R. Rutherford, John Howard & William Manley all of Greenwood, Ar.

William Manley testifies that he is 30 years old and lives in Sebastian Co., Ar and is a farmer.

John C. Bates says he is 47 years of age and resides in Sebastian Co.  His acquaintance with the claimant began about 1859.  "I joined the Federal Army, the 1st Ark U.S. Infty "A" Co on the 14th of Feby 1863 and served until the close of the war."

Deposition of F. M. Blaylock.  He is 35 years of age and resides in Sebastian Co.  His acquaintance with claimant began about 1856.  He lived about 6 miles from him.  He joined F Co. 1st Ark U.S. Infty on the 10th day of Sept 1863 and served until the close of the war.

Deposition of James L. Blaylock.  He is 38 years of age and resides in Sebastian Co., Ar.  His acquaintance with claimant began in 1856 and he lived about 6 miles from him.  He was rejected by the Federals surgeon on account of affection of his eyes and ??? to be consuptive.  So he worked for the government as a blacksmith.

Deposition of John Howard who is 54 years old and lives in Sebastian Co., Ar.  Claimant is his son.

He now resides at Sulphur Twonship in the Co. of Sebastian.  On or about the 28th of Feb 1863 the 1st Ark Cav passed near the farm of Lemuel B. Howard in township of Sulphur.  He believes his mare was taken by James Blyhe, private of the 1st Ark Cav.

"My name is Lemuel B. Howard, my age 30 years, m y residence Sebastian Co., Ar and my occupation a farmer.  From the 1st of April 1861 until sometime in July 1862 I resided with my father six miles northwest of Greenwood about which time I was conscripted in the rebel army where I served about five months.  I deserted them returning  home and lay out in the mountains until some time in December 1862 when I started for the Federal lines and arrived in Fayetteville, Ar about the 8th of January 1863 at which place I enlisted in F Co. 1st Ark U.S. Cav. in which Co. and Reg. I served to the close of the war when I was mustered out of service with my regt sometime in August 1865. ................."
