Almond Crawford was born September 14, 1933 at Hackett, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Vernon Raymon & Gladys M. Shelton Crawford. He married 3 times...first to Alice M. Unk, They had 3 children. They divorced July 17, 1970. His second wife was Juanita L. Cross. They married July 24, 1970 in Pierce, Washington. No children were born to this marriage. They divorced August 8, 1980. His 3rd wife was Elsie Rose Poplin in Chelan, Washington. Their license date was August 11, 1980. No marriage date has been found. They remained married until his death.

Almond enlisted in the US Army January 12, 1965 and served until February 5, 1960. His obituary below says he enlisted for a second time and served until 1962.

Almond passed away August 20, 1984 at Chelan, Chelan Co., Washington.

Robert Dale Bateman, Sr., 82, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away in a local Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, April 11, 2012. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to George W. and Anna (Stinecypher) Bateman in 1929.

He joined the Army and served in the Korean War where he earned the Purple Heart, three bronze Stars, the Korean Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Presidential Unit Citation. After the service he was a truck driver for Fort Chafee. He was also a member of Bluff Avenue Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Bateman and his sister Billie Lay.

Graveside service with full Military Honors will be 10:00AM Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Betty Jean Bateman of the home, a son Robert D. Bateman, Jr. of Fort Smith, Arkansas, one granddaughter Rebekah. D. Stoltz of Fort Smith, Arkansas, two great grandsons, Sebastian and Weston Stoltz both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and two sisters, Ann Kelton of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Sammie Donner of Chelsea, Oklahoma.
