Thaddeus Roy "Ted" Been was born February 28, 1906 in Howe, Indian Territory, Oklahoma, now LeFlore Co. Oklahoma to Martin Thaddeus & Lavina Queen Maun Been. Ted's first marriage was in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Agnes Mae Haley of Van Buren, Crawford Co., Ar. who passed away in 1981. His second wife was Bonnie E. Shermer Dewitt who was living in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. in 1957 passed away Jan. 2, 1999 and is buried in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

October 16, 1940 Ted registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He served in the US Army with the rank of Sgt. Nothing else is found about his time in the military.

Thaddeus Roy "Ted" Been passed away March 7, 2007 in Little Rock, Arkansas and is buried at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Thaddeus Roy "Ted" Been, 101, of Little Rock, formerly of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Chenal Healthcare Center in Little Rock. He was born Feb 28, 1906, in Howe Indian Territory, Okla. to Martin Thaddeus and Queen Lavina Mann Been.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Velma Ruth Been of Fort Smith; brother, Eberle Been of El Paso, Texas; and wives Agnes and Bonnie.

Masonic graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at The U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Ark.

He is survived by his step daughter, Olta Jo DeWitt Hicks and her husband Joel of Little Rock; and their sons, Don Hicks of Portland, Oregon, and Gene Hicks of Little Rock, and their families.
