John Clinton Bracken, Jr. was born October 2, 1919 in Marion Township, Sebastian Co. Ar. to John Clinton Sr. & Ruby Ethel Meeks Bracken. March 30, 1947 John married Joyce Elaine Bray in Wellington, Kansas. John registered for the military draft October 16, 1940 at the Fort Smith High School in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co, Ar, He enlisted in the US Army October 31, 1941, serving in the Air Corps. John was assigned to the to the 461st Bombardment Group, 766th Bomb Squadron, Crew No. 4/2 on April 2, 1945. More information on the 461st Bombardment Group can be found HERE with names and photos. On May 12, 1945 he was awarded the Air Medal (AM), his rank being SSGT. His service ended October 25, 1945. John Clinton Bracken passed away on January 13, 1990. On January 16, 1990 he was buried in the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
