Carl Henry Bridges was born January 28, 1924 at Bonanza, Sebastian Co., Arkansas to Harry Lewis & Mary Francis Victoria Littlejohn Bridges. March 22, 1947 Carl married Dorris Catherine Smith, They were both residents of Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. at that time.

Carl enlisted in the US Marines October 19, 1943 and was discharged February 9, 1946. Nothing else is found about his service except that he was wounded in action, no date given. After the war he returned to Sebastian Co., Ar.

Charles Henry Bridges passed away October 7, 2006 in Greenwood, Sebastian C., Ar. He is buried in the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

GREENWOOD - Carl H. Bridges, 82, of Greenwood died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006. He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Bonanza and was self-employed and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II awarded the Purple Heart.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Harry Bridges of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mary Pollock of Bonanza and Betty Lenier of Van Buren; a brother, Bobby Bridges of Bonanza; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
