Wayne Leroy Bridges

Wayne Leroy Bridges was born October 20, 1918 in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Huel Ewby Herbert & Maude Price Bridges. Opal Mae Sparks in Portland, Mult, Oregon on July 3, 1944.

Wayne registered for the military draft on October 16, 1940 at Steamboat Springs, Routt Co., Colorado. He states that he is already enlisted in the US Army.

Tech Sgt. Wayne Leroy Bridges, 49 years old, died Monday, October 9, 1967 at the veterans hospital at Memphis following a long illness. He was a Baptist and had received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster and other medals for service in World War II.

Survivors are his father. A. G. Bridges; his step-mother, Mary Bridges; a son, Wayne of Pendleton, Oregon; a brother Corbin of Miller, Mo; two sisters, Mrs. L. Pate of Rogersville, MO. and Mrs. R. Carr of Van Buren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Edwards Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in National cemetery with full military honors at the graveside.

Military personnel were his casket bearers.
