Robert Eugene Cordes was born May 24, 1923 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Bernard "Ben" George Sr. & Magdalena "Lena" Sax Cordes. November 28, 1948 Robert married Patricia A. "Patsy" Peak. Both living in Fort Smith, Arkansas at that time. I found no draft registertion cards for Robert but on June 16, 1941 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps stating that he had completed 4 years of high school. He served with the 92nd ASG (Air Service Groups) with the 5th Air Force. On July 12, 1945 Robert's rank was SSgt. He was discharged from service September 13, 1945. Robert Eugene Cordes passed away March 28, 1997 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. and was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith.
