Sgt. Bruce David Cox was born in Kansas City, Mo. on May 8, 1923 to Edwin Wriley & Ethel Elizabeth Limbird Cox. Sgt. Cox graduated from Fort Smith High School. He entered the military on Jan 19, 1943.

Sgt. Cox served in the Army Air Forces. His military occupation was Tail Gunner, Attached to 306th Bomber Group, Heavy, 367th Bomber Squadron.

February 22, 1944 Sgt. Cox was on the crew of the B-17 #42-31500 "The Duchess" when they were shot down by fighters on their return from a mission to the JU88 plant at Bernburg, Germany. They crashed near St Trond, Belgium.
