James Monroe Cox III

James Monroe Cox, III was born May 15, 1919 in Hot Springs, Garland Co., Arkansas to James Monroe Jr & Minnie E Brock Cox. July 5, 1941 James married Ophelia Miller in Logan Co., Arkansas, both residing at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar. at that time.

October 16, 1940 James registered for the miitary draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co. Ar. He enlisted in the US Army and achieved the rank of Tec 4. Additional information about his service is in his obit below.

James Cox was born on May 15, 1919 to James and Minnie Cox in Hot Springs, Arkansas. As a youth he grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After graduating from high school there, he attended Langston University in OK. but shortly left to join the Army. He was member of the 10th Calvary stationed at Camp Funston, KS. He served overseas in World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He was married to Ophelia(Miller)Cox for 60+ years and was the father to 4 children. James followed his wife in death on April 4th 2011. He is sorely missed by family and friends.
