Louis Woodrow Elkins was born April 16, 1917 in Big Creek, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Alonzo H. "Uncle Lon" & Bertha Elizabeth Clevenger Elkins. October 31, 1949 Louis married Elsie Madeline Lewis in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. In 1950 they were divorced in Pulaski County, Ar. Louis Elkins registered for the military draft at the Junior High School in Fort Smith, Ar. No date is given on his records. At that time he was employed by Okla Gas & Electric in Fort Smith, Ar. He had completed 4 years of high school and was employed as an accountant and auditor. On April 9, 1943 Louis enlisted in the US Army at Camp Josepth T Robinson, Little Rock, Arkansas. No further information is found about his service. His discharge date was December 25, 1945. 1st Lt. Louis Woodrow Elkins passed away Oct 31, 1986. He is buried in the Little Rock National Cemetery.
