Pfc Denver Odell Flanagan was born July 29, 1922 in Sebastian County, Ar to John Addison & Essie Iona Carter Flanagan.

Pfc Flanagan registered for the military draft on June 30, 1942 in Fort Smith, Ssebastian Co., Ar. and enlisted at Little Rock, Arkansas. He served with the US Army Group, 4th Armored Division, 51st Infantry Battalion.
After training in England from January to July 1944, the 4th Armored Division landed at Utah Beach, on 11 July, over a month after the initial Normandy landings, and first entered combat on 17 July 1944. Pfc Flanagan was killed in action July 21, 1944 in France.
