Hollie Cleave Ford
1920-2018



Hollie Cleave Ford was born Sept 23, 1920 in Prairie Twsp, Sebastian Co., Ar to Wayne "Willie" William & Myrtle Eunice Gilliam Ford. After he returned from the war Hollie married Martha Jane Kersey on Aug 1, 1947. Both were living at Huntington, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Feb 16, 1942 Hollie registered for the draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. And on Sep. 8, 1942 he enlisted in the US Army Air Force as a private. On his enlistment it states that Hollie had completed 2 years of college and that he was a farmer. His college was at the University of Arkansas where he was a sophmore in 1942 majoring in Agriculture.

Hollie Cleave Ford of Stigler, Oklahoma was born September 23, 1920 at his grandparents' home north of Huntington, Arkansas to William Wayne and Myrtle Eunice (Gilliam) Ford. He passed away on January 15, 2018 at the age of 97.

He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1940 and enrolled in the University of Arkansas that fall. In the spring of 1942, he was drafted into the United States Army Air Force and after training spent 3 1/2 years in Calcutta, India (CBI).

Hollie Cleave Ford and Martha Jane Kersey were married August 1, 1947 at Parks, Arkansas. They settled in Ft. Smith and he worked for Beckman Dairy for a year. He started working for the Automotive, Inc. in 1948 and was transferred to Stigler, Oklahoma in 1958 where he opened an auto parts store in 1959. It closed in 1982 when he retired. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church until 2007.

He is survived by His wife, Martha Jane Ford; Children: William Hollie Ford and wife, Linda, John Louis Ford, Martha Ann Brown and husband, Ron; Granddaughters: Taylor Jane Brown, Morgan Evonne Brown, Andrea Wilson Ignacio, Carla Wilson Rodgers, Robyn Wilson Ballew; Six great granddaughters; One great grandson; Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Warren Ford.

Funeral service will be 10:30AM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Stigler, Oklahoma with Rev. Gene Murry officiating. Burial will follow at Lovelace Cemetery in Witcherville, Arkansas.
