James Henry Grober

James Henry Grober was born December 9, 1918 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Albert & Emma Louise Austerman Grober. February 19, 1948 James married Vera Louise Bailey at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

No draft cards have been found for James, before he enlisted in the US Army Field Artillery branch January 6, 1941 in Fort Smith, although the death records from the Department of Veterans Affairs say his enlistment was October 2, 1940. His enlistment paper states he was already part of the National Guard at that time. It also tells us he had completed 4 years of high school and his occupation was: "Unskilled amusement, recreation, and motion picture occupations." On the 1940 census his occupation was "Ticket Man at the Theater." His discharge date from the Dept of Veterans Affairs was October 26, 1945.

On October 30, 1945 James again filed his registration papers for the US Army at the court house in Fort Smith, Ar. No further information is found.

James Henry Grober passed away June 22, 1980 at Fort Smith, Ar. and is buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith.
