(high school picture) James Neil Halliday was born 14 Jan 1923 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Alfred James & Mary Alice Miller Halliday. Neil graduated from Fort Smith High School. James Neil Halliday enlisted in the Army Air Corps at Camp Chaffee Ft Smith Sebastian Co. Arkansas on 11 Sep 1942 to serve in the US Army Air Corps. His training was at Fort Bragg, N.C. Neil was attached to the 72nd Ln Sq, 1st Tac Air Div, Knollwood Field, N.C. On 15 Sep 1943 S/Sgt. Neil Halliday lost his life in a training plane accident from a head injury. He was "dead on arrival" at the hospital at Ft. Bragg, N.C. S/Sgt Halliday was buried at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
