George Haskell Heydenreich

George H Heydenreich was born 22 Jan 1919 in Deer, Newton County, Ar. to Frederick Oswald & Lona Peoples Heydenreich. On 5 Mar 1938 George married Sylvia Laster of Greenwood. His place of residence as Hackett. Sebastian Co., Ar.

George registered for the military draft October 16, 1940 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Arkansas. He enlisted as a Private First Class in the US Army on 3 May 1944 at Camp Joseph T. Robinson in Little Rock, Ar. and was assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, 87th Infantry Regiment.

Pfc Heydenreich was killed by hostile fire from the enemy in a battle on April 21, 1945 in Italy. He was buried at the Florence American Cemetery and Memorial in Florence, Citta Metropolitana di Firenze, Toscana, Italy
He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
The Bronze Star Medal is awarded for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone.
