Alvor Jefferson Kennedy, Jr was born September 2, 1926 in Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Alvor Jefferson & Dessie Adele Moore Kennedy Sr. On May 15, 1954 A.J. & Larene Linn applied for a marriage license to marry in Sebastian Co., Ar.

September 2, 1944 at age 14 A.J. registered for the military draft at Greenwood, Ar. On April 24, 1945 he enlisted in the US Army. He states he has compelted 4 years of high school.

Alvor Jefferson Kennedy, Jr passed away on October 6, 2004 and is buried in the Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery in Danville, Yell Co., Ar.

A. J. "Al" Kennedy, Jr., age 78 of Danville, AR died Wednesday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 2, 1926 in Greenwood to the late A. J. Sr. and Dessa Moore Kennedy. He was a county extension agent for 32 years, and retired after serving 20 of those years as the Yell County agent. After retirement, he taught agriculture at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Larene Linn Kennedy, a brother, Robert Kennedy, and two sisters, Nan Kennedy and Katherine Hill.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Melanie Kennedy of Russellville, and Tom and Kristi Kennedy of Little Rock; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Danny Jones of Magazine; a twin brother, Cal Kennedy of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Kara Jones Binz of England, Robert Jones, John Kennedy and Jim Kennedy, all of Little Rock, and Hannah and Hatley Kennedy, both of Little Rock.

Services were held Friday, at the United Methodist Church in Danville with Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Interment was in Earl Ladd Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Pallbearers were Jay Younger, David Damon, Larry Stanberry, Bob Staton, Bood Keathley, and John Payne. Honorary include A. C. Mowery, Boss Mitchell, J. D. Welch, Ewell Welch, Ed Taylor, and Gene Lowery. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 729, Danville, AR, 72833.
