James Earl Martindale
1916- 1998


James Earl Martindale was born January 24, 1916 in Alabama to John Thomas & Mary F. Trousdale Martindale. Although he was born in Alabama he and his family were living in Big Creek Twsp, Sebastian Co., Arkansas before 1920. By 1930 they were living in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. December 31, 1937 Sebastian Co. Arkansas, James married Nora Bethel Moore from Klamath, Oregon. Although divorce papers were signed on December 2, 1952 the couple apparently overcame their problem and stayed together.
From Nora's obiturary - .... "She then moved to Fort Smith where she met her future husband James Earl Martindale. Earl and Nora were married December 31, 1937. They were married 61 years. Nora loved being a housewife. Earl and Nora lived in California for several years before retiring and returning to Arkansas."

No draft cards were found for James Earl but he enlisted at Little Rock, Arkansas in the US Army November 14, 1942, his service beginning November 24, 1942. On his enlistment papers he stated he had completed 3 years of high school and his occupation was sales clerk. He served his country until November 1, 1945.

James Earl Martindale passed away April 6, 1998 and is buried at the National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
