Clifton Wayne McConnell was born October 17, 1926 in Cornish, Sebastian Co., Ar. (Cornish was part of the Camp Chaffee propbery later) to Willie Oma & Bessie Faye Townley McConnell. October 26, 1947 Clifton married Barbara Lee McInnes from Huntington. Cliftons residence was Greenwood.

October 17, 1944 he registered for the military draft at the Sebastian Co., Courtshouse. October 22, 1945 Clifton enlisted in the US Army as a Private First Class. He states he completed 4 years of high school and his civil occupation was "Tinsmiths, coppersmiths, and sheet metal workers". Nothing more is found about his time in the service.

Clifton Wayne McConnell passed away July 4, 2020 at Centerton, Benton County, Arkansas, His burial was in Liberty Cemetery at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar. No marker photo was found.

Clifton W. McConnell died Saturday, July 4, 2020 in Centerton, Arkansas. He was born in 1926 in the Cornish community, now part of Fort Chaffee. He attended Greenwood High School, finishing at mid-term to join the Army, and was on Okinawa when World War II ended.

He attended Arkansas Tech and in 1955 begin his career with Shipley Baking Company. He retired as a sales supervisor in 1989. He married Barbara McInnes in 1948 and they had one son. They lived in Greenwood and attended First Baptist Church. The relocated to Bentonville in 2002 to be close to family. He loved the Razorbacks and the St. Louis Cardinals, and he enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard in perfect condition. Above all, he loved his family and his many cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara and two sisters, Ruth Walraven and Helen Keyes.

He is survived by his son, Chris and wife, Debbie of Bella Vista; grandson, Brooks and wife, Dena of Centerton; granddaughter, Erin Lowry and husband, Jay of Vandalia, Illinois; great grandchildren, Maddy, Chloe and Matthew of Centerton and Jack and Piper of Illinois; a brother, Delbert and wife, Peggy of Fort Smith and their children, Jennifer McAlister and husband, Dewayne of Fort Smith, Lisa Barnes and husband, Danny of Russellville and their daughters, London and Olivia; a niece, Judy Castro and daughters, Kim and Kelly; a nephew, Steve Stanton and wife, Margie and their sons, Sean and Brian, all of California.

Viewing will be Wednesday, July 8 from 2 - 5 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. The family will have a private service at the chapel with burial at Liberty Cemetery.
