Roy Joseph Milligan was born Feb. 29, 1924 in Fort Smith, Sebastian County Arkansas to Vernard Le Roy & Marie Mumey Milligan. September 15, 1947 Roy married Helen Rose Thompson, both resided in Fort Smith, Ar.

Roy Joseph Milligan passed away January 4, 2012 in Fayetteville, Washington Co., Ar. His burial was in Woodland Park Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Roy J. Milligan, 87, of Fort Smith, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Fayetteville.
He was the founder of Modern Fence Inc. in Fort Smith, and Modern Fence and Supply in Fayetteville. Roy remained active in Modern Fence and Supply until the present and he was a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a CB and landed on Normandy Beach on D-Day and continued his service in both the European and Pacific Theaters during World War II. After returning from the war, Roy met and married Helen Rose Thompson, also of Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife Helen Milligan of the home; one daughter, RoseAnna Presley of Fayetteville; two sons, Clark and Steve Milligan both of Fayetteville; one brother, Bob Milligan of Staunton, Virginia; six grandchildren, Spencer Presley, Joey Wood-Milligan, Danny Woods-Milligan, Jake Milligan, Sam Milligan, and Kelley Milligan as well as two great-grandchildren, Katie and Jackson Presley.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, and son-in-law Cotton Presley.
