Doris Maxine Pogue
1924-2012


Doris Maxine Pogue was born October 11, 1924 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to William Luther Sr. & Maude Elizabeth Hines Pogue. December 11, 1942 Doris married Ray J. Nottingham in Crawford Co., Ar. Ray's residence was in Rice, California serving with the military, and Doris was living in Fort Smith. They divorced before March 1943 when she enlisted in the the service and states she is divorced. Ray was killed in Germany in 1945.
July 17, 1946 in Fort Smith she married Marion Roland Hundley from Pawnee, Pawnee, Oklahoma who also served in the US Army. He has a WWII page here.

March 13, 1943 at Little Rock, Arkansas. Doris enlisted in the Quartermaster Corps of the Women's Army Corps. Her enlistment was for the Panama Canal Department She states she has completed 3 years of high school, her civil occupation was waitress, and she was divorced without dependents. Nothing more is known about her time in the service.

Doris Maxine Pogue Hundley passed away October 10, 2012 at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. with burial in the Fort Smith National Cemetery.

Doris "Dot" Hundley, 87 of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012. She was born October 11, 1924 in Fort Smith to W.L. Pogue SR and Maude (Hines) Pogue.

She was a former PBX Operator at Fort Chaffee, a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, and the Opti-Mrs. Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jr. Pogue, and a sister-law, Nan Pogue.

She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Hundley Vinson of Tupelo, MS; one son, Rick Hundley and his wife Marolyn of Fort Smith, AR; one brother, Jimmy Pogue and his wife, Teresa of Fort Smith, AR; four grandchildren, Justin Hundley of Denver, CO, Scott Hundley and his wife, Lauren of Nashville, TN, Kim Weifkircher and her husband, JD of Jacksonville, FL, and Mike Malone of Tupelo, MS; as well as 2 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2012 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
