Joseph Francis Hrichkervitgh, later changed to Rich, was born April 13, 1912 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey to Andr (Andrew) & Anna G. Draina Hritchkewicz. Father Andrew was born in Austria Hungary. January 26, 1946 Joseph, of Elizabeh, Union, NJ married Mary M. Seibold of Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. at Fort Smith. October 16, 1940 Joseph registred for the military draft at Union County, Old City Hall Building at Elizabeth NJ. He enlisted in the US Army April 4, 1942 at Newark, New Jersey. The enlistment papers say he had completed 4 years of high school and his civil occupation was "Laboratory technicians and assistants. Another source says he completed grammar school and was "Machinists apprentices." Joseph served in the US Army until November 4, 1945 with the rank of Sgt. Nothing more is known about his time in the military. from daughter Jane Rich....."My dad was from New Jersey but did his basic at Chaffee. Came back after the war and married my mom. Then moved back to New York? for a couple of years before returning to Massard then Barling." Joseph Francis Hrichkervitgh Rich passed away December 8, 1984 His burial was in the National Cemetery at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.
