Herman Joseph Seibold Jr. was born Feb 24, 1921 in south Sebastian Co., Ar.to Herman Joseph & Gertrude Stella Ermann Seibold, Sr. June 6, 1949 Herman Jr. married Loretta Ann Weisenfelsfrom Logan Co., Ar.

Feb 16, 1942 Herman registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Ar. Herman enlisted with the US Navy and was assigned to the USS Dahloren. On 24 March 1942 USS Dahloren departed for Key West where she joined the Fleet Sonar School. This duty lasted into 1945. On 15 July 1942 the tanker SS Pennsylvania Sun was torpedoed and sunk by U-571. Two of the crew were killed in the explosion, but 40 sailors and 17 armed guards escaped, and were picked up by the Dahlgren. On 11 January 1945 the Dahlgren reached Charleston, where she spent a few weeks operating with submarines that were still in training. That lasted until 1 March 1945, when she was reclassified as the miscellaneous auxiliary AG-91.

After the war Herman returned to Fort Smith, Ar. On January 3, 2001 Herman Joseph Seibold passed away and was buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Barling, Sebastian Co., Ar.
