Billy Wallace Shibley was born March 14, 1920 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Ar. to James Samuel & Ellsie Louise Shipley Shibley. May 31, 1946 Billy married Mary Jean Selig in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Billy registeed for the military draft in Fort Smith, where he was living, on July 1, 1941. He gave his occupation as truck driver for Ward Ice Cream Co. in Fort Smith. He had completed 2 years of high school in Fort Smith. He enlisted in the US Army 27 Nov 1941. He attained the rank of Sgt. by his discharge date.

Billy Wallace Shibley died 9 Apr 1984 in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico. Burial was at Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico.

Funeral services for Bill Shibley, 64, 1012 N. Halagueno St., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Denton Funeral Home Chapel. Shibley died Monday at the local hospital. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. The Rev. Ross Dunn, of the First United Methodist Church, will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kevin reed, Ken Garner, Gary Bales, Larry Fisher, John Steinholtz, Robbie Wood Robbie Christianson, James Garner, Doug Wood, and Todd Allen.

Born in Van Buren, Ark., Shibley spent most of his life in Fort Smith, Ark. He lived in Albuquerque before moving to Carlsbad 30 years ago.

He was a salesman and also worked with the Cub Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Shibley, Carlsbad; and two sisters, Evelyn Booker, Ft. Smith, Ark. and Alice Martin, Alma, Ark.
