Loyd Truman Stanfill was born June 20, 1923 at Washburn, Sebastian, Arkansas to Thomas Jefferson & Linnie Kay Clopton Stanfill. January 12, 1947 Loyd married Betty June Raggio from Booneville, Logan Co., Ar. where the marriage took place. There is another marriage record for Loyd and Betty July 13, 1963 at Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar.

June 30, 1942 Lloyd registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. He enlisted in the US Army on June 7, 1943 and served until December 17, 1945. No other information on his service has been found.

On September 8, 1999 Loyd Truman Stanfill passed away and was buried in Liberty Cemetery, Greenwood, Sebastian Co., Ar.

GREENWOOD — Loyd T. Stanfill, 76, of Greenwood died Wednesday at a Fort Smith hospital. A World War II Army veteran and recipient of two Purple Hearts, he was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Greenwood First Baptist Church. He was the widower of Betty Stanfill, and was retired from the Sebastian County Highway Department.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday in McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery in Greenwood.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah J. Mize of Poteau; one son, James C. Stanfill of Moline, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Bobbitt of Greenwood and Annie Thomas of California; one brother, Lee of Greenwood; and two granddaughters, Staci Samuelson of Fort Smith and Cassandra Stanfill of Moline. Pallbearers will be Gary Lee Bobbitt, Larry McConnell, Jerry Terral, Dean Anderson, Bill Stanfill and Olen Craig.
