Billy Hugh Stanfill was born February 10, 1927 in Washburn, Sebastian Co., Ar. to James Lee & Willie Alene Cross Stanfill. May 16, 1948 he married Joyce Ann Caudle at Mansfield, Sebastian Co., Ar., both being residents there. February 10, 1945 Billy registered for the military draft at Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. and enlisted in the US Army on April 24, 1945 at Camp Josepth T Robinson at Little Rock, Arkansas. He states on his enlistment record that he completed 4 years of high school and his civil occupation was sales clerk. He served until December 8, 1946. Nothing more is known about his service. Billy Hugh Stanfill passed away Octobr 6, 2007 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. Stanfill, of Greenwood, Arkansas, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, in a Fort Smith hospital. Mr. Stanfill was 80 years old. He was a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II, member of Harris-Hannah VFW Post No. 6527 in Greenwood, retired from SWEPCO, member of Mansfield Lion's Club, the Sebastian County Cattlemen's Association and past member of the Mansfield School Board. He is survived by his wife and sons; other relatives and many good friends.
