James Ted "Teddy" Stevenson
1913-1996


James Teddy Stevenson was born Decenber 17, 1913 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Ar. to John H & Edna Mae Kursh Stevenson. December 13, 1913 he narried Thelma May Finley. Both were resided in Fort Smith but married in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Ar.

October 16, 1940 Ted Registered for the military draft in Fort Smith, Ar at the Lincoln School. His enlistment date in the US Army was January 30, 1943. He served until March 15, 1946.

James Ted Stevenson passed away April 9, 1996. He was buried in the Fort Smith National Cemetery.

James Ted Stevenson was born the 17th day of December, 1913, to the late John Stevenson and Edna Mae Kursh Stevenson in Fort Smith, Arkansas. James, better known as Ted, attended Lincoln High School. He later entered the U. S. Army on January 30, 1943, and served until he was honorably discharged on March 15, 1946. Ted was well known for his love of music and his friendly sense of humor. Music became a special part of Ted's life and he later became the leader of the jazz band known as "Rockets of Rhythm". He resided in Ft. Smith where he had three daughters and a son. He followed the vocation of carpentry after serving as an apprentice under Ike Jackson. His wife, Thelma May Finley Stevenson, preceded him in death on November 6, 1993. James Ted Stevenson died on April 9, 1996, at the home of his daughter Sondra.
