Ray Owens Vaught

Ray Owens Vaught born 1920 was the son of Samuel A & Matilda (Mattie) Pendergraft Vaught. In 1930 this family was in Logan Co., Arkansas, and by 1935 they had moved on to Sebastian Co., Ar.

Ray Owens Vaught of Greenwood,Sebastian Co., Ar married Inez Houston of Pangburn, White County, Arkansas 31 Mar 1939. The marriage was in Sebastian Co., Ar.

On Dec 7, 1941 Ray Owens married Reba Ellen Tucker of Sebastian Co., Ar. Ray's first wife remarried and moved back to White County, Arkansas, her home before her marriage to Ray.

Ray enlisted in the US Army and served with the rank of Sgt. During this time he was transported by the ship "Wright" to Pearl Harbor Oct 24, 1942 for duty there. Sgt Vaught was killed by hostile fire in June 1944.
Sgt. Ray Owens Vaught was awarded the Purple Heart for his service and sacrifice.
