Lt. Col. Harold Newt Chaffin
U. S. Air Force, WWII. Flew the first four-engine airplane into Fort Smith Airport. Delivered Gen. Douglas MacArthur to the Philippines in WWII. Reported missing in action in the South Pacific in 1943. Chaffin Junior High in Fort Smith is named for his father.
