Raymond P. Maness was born March 7, 1926 in Big Creek Twsp., Sebastian Co., Ar. to Herman M. & Grace Southard Manes. Raymond married Lena Peral Chapman June 22, 1944 at Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar.

Raymond registered for the draft Feb 19, 1946. On his registration card where it asks where he is employed he states "Just Discharged". He may have been in the national guard previous to this. Raymond joined the US Navy and served until his enlistment time was up, returning to his home in Lavaca, Ar.

Raymond P. Maness passed away March 8, 2011 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co Ar. and is buried at Measles Memorial Cemetery in Lavaca.

RAYMOND P. MANESS 85 of Lavaca, AR died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in his home. He was born March 7, 1926, in Lavaca. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient, a 32nd-degree Mason, retired business owner, Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service at Lavaca, AR., and former mayor of Lavaca, AR.

SERVICES will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Lavaca First Baptist Church with burial at Measles Cemetery at Lavaca, AR., under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston, AR.

SURVIVORS include his wife, Lena; a daughter, Raymond Maness of Lavaca, AR., and a granddaughter.

PALLBEARERS will be Rick Withers, David, Perry, and Randy Newman, Buddy Smithson, Shercliff Lockrigde, Danny Gann and Charlie Decker.
