Joel Gish was born July 20, 1956 at Fort Smitth, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Paul & Melva Jean Hiat Gish. His wife was Kim. No maiden name is known.

Joel's final rank in the Army was SP4 whic is one of the four junior enlisted ranks in the United States Army, above private (PVT), private (PV2), and private first class and is equivalent in pay grade to corporal; in the United States Space Force, four grades of specialist comprise the four junior enlisted ranks below the rank of sergeant. No enlistment or discharge dates are found.

Joel "Boomer" Gish, 54, of Spiro died Dec. 8, 2010. He was born July 20, 1956, in Fort Smith. He was a member of Spiro Church of Christ, a truck driver for Carman Inc., and the founder of Boomer Motor Sports.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at White Bluff Cemetery in Bonanza under the direction of Booneville Funeral Service in Booneville.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; a daughter, Patricia Molthan of Springdale; a son, Paul Gish of Van Buren; two sisters, Melanie Eastwood of Barling and Angie Brown of Booneville; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be M.L. and Emory Heintz, Jerami Casteel, Michael Molthan, Larry Townzen, Chris Perkins, Buddy Fraizer, Slayton Durrett and James Richesin.
