William Edward Smothers, Sr. was born June 10, 1950 at Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to to Edward amd Margie Martin Smothers. December 19, 1959 he married Zona Marie White at Lavaca, Arkansas.

No military records have been found for him although he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

William Edward Smothers Sr. passed away April 7, 2001. His burial was in Oak Valley Cemetery near Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar.

William Edward Smothers Sr., 60, of Lavaca died Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was a Baptist. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Oak Valley Cemetery south of Lavaca.

He is survived by four daughters, Debbie Smothers of Central City, Tammy White of Cecil, Lynette McClendon of Lavaca and Melissa Craig of Muldrow; two sons, William Edward Smothers Jr. of Welling, Okla., and David Earl Smothers of Fort Smith; a sister, Jackie Hawkins of Booneville; five brothers, Wayne of Fort Smith, Bob of Booneville, Jimmy of Charleston and Tommy and Wesley, both of Lavaca; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Troy and Richard Smothers, Rayburn Green, Kevin Pierce, Leroy Stockton and Jeff Craig. The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Times Record Online
