ITALIAN, WHO WAS COLONEL AT 11, DIES
Fort Smith, Ark, Sept 24
James Brizzolara, 65, one of the most prominent Italians in the United States, died at his home here last night. Brizzolara joined the army of Gen. Garibaldi during the Italian Revolution at the age of 11 years. At the age of 14 he was mustered out with the rank of colonel. During the civil war and immediately after it's close, Brizzolara engaged in a score or more of duels, the principal one being fought in 1869, with George R. Phelan in Memphis. In this encounter he was badly wounded.
