Injury Fatal to Widely Known Greenwood Farmer

James Albert Israel, 61 years old, prominent farmer and miner of Greenwood, died in a local hospital Thursday night, August 16, 1934, as the result of injuries suffered August 6, when a rock fell on him, while at work in the Eastern Coal company's mine near Greenwood.

Mr. Israel had been a resident of Greenwood for 30 years, was an active member of the Baptist Church and had served in the school board for 18 years.

The body was removed from the Putman Funeral home to the Greenwood residence Friday morning. Funeral service was to be conducted at 3:30 Friday afternoon with burial at the Mt. Zion cemetery near Greenwood.
