Gibson, George
Submitted by: Cary
Sunday afternoon, a gloom was cast over town by the announcement that 7 year old George Gibson, son of Lawrence Gibson and Emma Maud Doggett, had been drowned in a hole of water in the creek near the Elmer residence in the east part of town. It seems that the little fellow was fishing in the stream and from some unknown cause fell and being unable to swim, was drowned. His remains were found by an older brother, and his father came and sadly took the precious burden home. The bereaved parents have the deep sympathy of the entire town, and while the loss is irreparable, it has saved an innocent child the trials and distresses incident to life. In the language of King David of old, "the child cannot come to me, but I can go to him." should be a consolation to the sorrowing parents. The remains were interred in the cemetery at this place, Monday afternoon, Rev. Rowland officiating.
