SEVIER COUNTY, ARKANSAS

Rule LineSHAKING YOUR FAMILY TREE: QUERIES 1-20

I invite you to enter a query for your Sevier County ancestors but because of our limited space, please limit it to only Sevier County ancestors. If you are not sure what part of Arkansas your relative was born, died, or resided in, might I suggest checking the Arkansas Federal Census Index, ususally located at you local library or Historical Society or Genealogical Society, for the time frames before and after the one you think they would be in. Enter your query information exactly as you want it to appear including the name of the county in case of misdirection with one exception, please enter the surnames in capital letters. Also it would be helpful if in your subject box you type "Sevier Co., Ar." so that it is not overlooked or deleted by mistake. Every effort will be made to post your query as soon as possible. Once the queries have been archived for a year, I do not pull them back into my computer. So if you change your email address please send me a new query.

To Submit a Query, e-mail

The Sevier County Surnames page serves as a name index to the queries.

GIll (1843) (Marriage, death, place of origin, whatever). I believe he is the father of a number of children who are on later Sevier County census records. A number of Lackeys married in the 1840's and 1850's - and in one case (1843) it is noted that parents gave their consent. It appears that they might have died because the kids are not with parents in the 1850 census. Do you have any clues?

I am looking for info on Robertus ( Kobertus ?) Wilson and Keziah Pitchlynn. Some info I have from Distant Cousins'say they were married in Sevier Co.. Arkansas ca. 1800-1840. These same cousins say they had 3 or 4 children named James Wilson 1840?? Joseph Wilson 1842?/ Scott Wenfield Wilson 1844?/ Martha Wilson 1846? Some say Robertus died within 5yrs of their marriage and then she married a William Poland by whom she had other children. I can't seem to find official records of the Children by Robertus. My Grandmother was Willie Mae Wilson who was the daughter of James Wilson who was supposedly the son of Robertus and Keziah. Willie Mae was born in Texarkana Tx.1882 though I have no official record of that so I am wondering if she was actually born in Arkansas. possibly you will have some info on her as well. I know there are Wilson cousins from Dequeen so maybe they are all part of the same family. am trying to look for the parents and children of Emily E. Wingfield that married David Bunch on Dec. 29, 1878 in Sevier County Arkansas. and Mary J. Wingfield that married Asa Bunch on April 8, 1883. I am thinking that the two Winglfields are sisters since the two Bunch's are half brothers. I have some of Emily's children, but I don't know the names of Asa and Mary's children. They later moved to McCurtain County OK. Does anyone know anything about them?

WILLIAMSON
I am seeking any and all information about a W.C. Williamson or C. Williamson and family residing in Sevier County in 1880 according to the census records. His wife's name was Sarah, and he had 3 children listed on the census: 1. William K. Williamson 2. Callie Williamson and 3. Sarah Lee Williamson. Sarah Lee was the only child born in Sevier county in 1879. The other children were born in Tx. It is my belief that Callie Williamson married in Sevier Co. in 1897. Sarah Lee married in Oklahoma in Jan. the same year. Nothing is known about William K. Thank you for your help with my query.

NEEDHAM/BROWN/LAIRD/BILBREE
I am the great granddaughter of Dixie Needham-Smith and Oscar Lee Smith of the Bellville Community. According to the information I have acquired (R.A Needham and Jimmie Needham's Obituaries) my gggrandparents were born in Brownstown. They were life-long residents of Sevier Co. I am inquireing about their parents and possible marriage dates. I have a copy of my great grandma's bible. In it, she had a John Needham and Margret Bilbree as the parents of Robert A. Needham. Margret also had a brother named John. Robert A. had brothers Willie, Monroe, Charlie, Jonnie, Tommie, and sisters Emma Pugh, Betty, Lena Mitchell, and Lillie Pendergrass. Jimmie Laird-Needham's parents were Frank Laird and Martha Ellen Brown. I have that Frank had a sister, Palka (Sp?) Johnson. Ellen Brown had brothers Bob, George, and Henry and sisters Liza Pauley and Delia Cravin. Jimmie had brothers Robert, Hugh, and Herman, and sisters Lucy Rankin, Emma Cox, and Eunice Gore. I just have some notes here and there. I am trying to make sense of it all. The Browns are supposedly buried in Brownstown. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I had begiven previous information that the parents of MARGARET " PEGGY " PITCHLYNN were Thomas PITCHLYNN and UNK. wife , and grandfather was a chieftan CHAFUTAYA . Since then I have been able to find out that Chafutaya took the name of JOHN PITCHLYNN because he admired Major John PITCHLYNN I have been told rescently that this is the wrong genealogy for Margaret " Peggy " PITCHLYNN . New information says her father is JOHN " JACK " PITCHLYNN JR. according to testimony in court and UNK. wife ( possibly Sophia  Folsom ).
