SEVIER COUNTY, ARKANSAS

Rule LineSHAKING YOUR FAMILY TREE: QUERIES 1997

I invite you to enter a query for your Sevier County ancestors but because of our limited space, please limit it to only Sevier County ancestors. If you are not sure what part of Arkansas your relative was born, died, or resided in, might I suggest checking the Arkansas Federal Census Index, ususally located at you local library or Historical Society or Genealogical Society, for the time frames before and after the one you think they would be in. Enter your query information exactly as you want it to appear including the name of the county in case of misdirection with one exception, please enter the surnames in capital letters. Also it would be helpful if in your subject box you type "Sevier Co., Ar." so that it is not overlooked or deleted by mistake. Every effort will be made to post your query as soon as possible. Once the queries have been archived for a year, I do not pull them back into my computer. So if you change your email address please send me a new query.

Below is what I know about my Jones lineā€¦..if any one can identify with any part of it please email me at Kc6005@aol.com. Barnibas/Barnabas Jones told the census taker in 1850 he was born in SC. I believe Barnibas could have had three different wives, because we find a Barnibas Jones in Hardeman Co TN in 1830 (we are not sure this is our Barnibas) with 2 males under the age of 5, one male 20 to 30, one female under age of 5, one female 5 to 10, and one female 20 to 30. Then we find Barnibas Jones in White Co. AR in 1840 with 1 male under 5, 2 males 10 to 15, 1 male 15-20 (Solomon D. Jones), 1 male 30-40 (Barnibas Jones), 2 females under 5 (Malinda Jones & Elizabeth Jones), 1 female 5 to 10 (Susan Jones), 1 female 10 to 15 (unknown), 1 female 15 to 20 (unknown), 1 female 30 to 40 (Elizabeth Maxwell). Then Barnibas Jones in Sevier Co. This is the first query I have ever done so I don't know what is a logical query. My ggg grandfather and gggg grandfather were on the 1830 Pope Co. AR Census. As far as I can tell from other people who have actually done searches in Pope Co. for the BOATRIGHTs nothing more could be found, I'm talking 5 to 10 years ago. Lewis and Thomas BOATRIGHT Sr. are the two ancestors I am referring to. The other BOATRIGHTs in Pope Co. are also kin to Lewis and Thomas. They were in the Little River, Miller and Sevier area around 1818 to 1829. On the Pope Co AR in 1830. In 1835 Lewis is in Chicot Co. Thomas Sr. presumably died and the BOATWRIGHT clan headed back to TX. They had come to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's original Three Hundred Settlers in late 1821. I don't know what towns they were living in at the time of the Census. I tried to see other queries but my computer said that it was not available to see.??
